A recent visit to Montreal included visits to some landmark sites, including Notre-Dame Basilica. Its origins were far more humble than the present day tourist attraction, which grew from the original chapel constructed between 1672 and 1683 to a much larger church more than 150 years before receiving basilica status in 1982.
This grand building has seen its share of construction since its original days as a chapel, and architectural influences range from baroque to gothic revival.
