Until a skilled assistant has moved on or taken time away, people may underestimate
the depth of expertise, creativity and commitment the individual brings to the role.
Particularly in 2020 and 2021, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to compare the best assistants
to swans making their way through choppy waters – poised and graceful,
with no apparent evidence of the consistent and determined paddling beneath the surface.
