This course

If you find yourself in the role of point person for bringing new colleagues up to speed, or if you and other assistants are asked similar questions each time there’s a new hire, you have a tremendous opportunity to add value.

Given the investments of time and financial resources in recruiting new employees, it makes sense to provide a solid return on investment (ROI) once they arrive in your office. You can do so by planning and documenting onboarding processes that complement HR’s orientation program. You can welcome and support your new colleagues, and do so in a manner that supports your own ability to remain productive.

Join Shelagh Donnelly to explore how a good onboarding program adds value by meeting a number of individual and organisational needs. From there, you can identify elements of a proposal to establish or refine an onboarding program within your organisation.

You also want to anticipate that there may come a day when you need to onboard a new principal (boss). Shelagh will walk you through some important considerations to help you start that new working relationship on the right foot.

Key learning points
  1. How an effective onboarding program adds value: individual and organisational impacts
  2. Structuring your onboarding program, and the importance of collaboration
  3. Laying the groundwork for success: onboarding your new executive
