A thought for your day, featuring photography from my travels. This shot: the view from Stockholm’s Pharmarium restaurant. Situated in Stortorget Square in Stockholm’s Old Town/Gamla Stan, the buildings in Gamla Stan date back to the 16th and 17th centuries. There are some even older buildings, as Old Town itself dates back to the 1300s. I was thrilled to make my first visit to Stockholm this spring, after speaking at a conference in Gothenburg/r Göteborg, on the country’s west coast.

A thought for your day, featuring photography from my travels. This shot: I arrived home very early this morning, after spending time yesterday catching part of the New York City Marathon and finishing up the trip with a bit of shopping. Here, a look at the Empire State Building from my hotel window … I was on the inside, and stretched my arm out the narrow opening ever so carefully – being careful to avoid bumping the window and dropping my phone – each time I captured the tower lit up in different colours over the course of a few days.

I loved this setting, and it’s indicative of a city and county that are home to more than 300 bridges.
