A thought for your day, featuring photography from my travels. This shot: beautiful blossoms last May, on the slope below the medieval walls surrounding the city of York, England. The Roman Walls that preceded this one were in place until 866, and the subsequent wooden wall was replaced over the course of the 13th and 14th centuries with the remains of the wall we see today. The remaining 3.4k km/two miles of the remaining masonry represent the longest town walls in England.

Driving through this area with friend Melanie last year, it would have been unfair to ask her to stop every few minutes, so I found myself snapping shots of this vibrant greenery from the car!

We’d flown over Kew enroute to London earlier that month; this building makes it relatively easy to spot from the air.
