That is a wonderful quote. I do so love Edith Wharton, although I am yet to read one of her novels without crying… winter reading by the fire then.
Isn’t it, though? … and agreed re fireside reading on a cold wintry day.
🙂 I managed to move the fireside reading to October. It was a necessary comfort in the midst of a storm yesterday. Power down. No wifi. But a log fire and a good book made up for it.
