Niagara Falls during a more temperate season
How many times in a single year, let alone a week, does someone from Vancouver have two occasions to write about polar-related events? This week’s weather makes last week’s Polar Bear Swim look downright tropical, as we collectively learn new terms such as polar vortex.
While I enjoyed more moderate temperatures when visiting the Falls in 2010, I’d have loved to have been among those positioned to take breathtaking photos of the partially frozen Falls this week. While the vortex had devastating effects in North America and has now begun to withdraw, its terrible but rare beauty created some stunning images.
