Baked Pears with Yogurt and Granola – The Exceptional EA in the Kitchen

As we wind down a busy work week, it’s nice to think about planning a tasty weekend brunch. While the warmth of the pears in this dish is particularly comforting on a chilly winter morning, this recipe is equally appealing – and refreshing – on a hot, sunny day. The beauty of this dish is that it’s simple to prepare, and makes for a lovely presentation whether you enjoy it by yourself, or with family or guests.

  • pears – a half to full pear per person
  • honey or brown sugar – to taste; we use Demerara sugar
  • Greek yogurt – to taste
  • granola – to taste
  • berries – to taste

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F / approximately 190 C
  2. Cut the pears in half, and core them with either a spoon or a lemon baller
  3. Place the pear halves, with the cored sides up, in a shallow baking dish
  4. Drizzle honey or sprinkle brown sugar inside the cored sections
  5. Cover the dish loosely with tin foil; you may wish to create a “tent”
  6. Bake anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes, until tender – the riper the pears, the less baking time they may require

  • Once pears are baked, place them on a serving platter or directly on individual dishes
  • Spoon yogurt into the cored areas of the pear halves; if serving individual portions in bowls, you may wish to also surround the pear halve with dollops of yogurt. Pop berries of your choice on the dollops.
  • Generously sprinkle granola over the yogurt
  • Some may wish to top up the presentation with an extra drizzle of honey or sprinkling of brown sugar

… and then serve, and enjoy! Have a lovely weekend, everyone.
