Weekend Poll Results: Singing

With thanks to all who participate, here are the results of this past weekend’s poll, which I’ve now closed. This poll’s focus:

Do you sing for pleasure?

Weekend Poll ResultsThe results: 68% of respondents write to sing, but frequency and comfort performing in front of others varies. Some good news? 80% of respondents said that it doesn’t matter whether others think they have a good singing voice. Read on for the results.

  • Yes: 68% of respondents
  • No: 16% of respondents
  • 16% of respondents selected “Other”.  One wrote, “Depends”.

How frequently do you sing?

  • Weekly: 40% of respondents
  • Daily: 20% of respondents
  • Infrequently: 20% of respondents
  • Not at all: 20% of respondents

Are you comfortable singing in front of others?

  • Yes: 40% of respondents
  • No: 40% of respondents
  • It depends on who the people are: 20% of respondents

Do you belong to any singing group?

  • No: 80% of respondents
  • Yes: 20% of respondents
  • 17% of respondents selected “Other”. One wrote, “Not in a serious manner. Absolutely love karaoke”.

Do you perform in front of others?

  • No:80 % of respondents
  • Yes: 33% of respondents
  • 17% of respondents selected “Other” and one wrote, “Not in a serious manner. Absolutely love karaoke”.

Does it matter to you whether or not others think you have a good singing voice?

  • No: 80% of respondents
  • Yes: 20% of respondents

Do you think that singing has a positive impact on your wellbeing?

  • Yes: 50% of respondents
  • No: 17% of respondents
  • I’m not sure: 16.5% of respondents
  • 16.5% of respondents selected “Other”. One wrote, “Singing upbeat songs can really lift a bad mood”.
