See You at National Harbor for IAAP Summit

Early Bird Rates In Effect Until January 31

Have you and your principal (boss) discussed your 2019 professional development plans? The year is young, but time is flying – blink, and we’ll be welcoming February. With the same blink, the early bird registration rates for IAAP’s Summit 2019 will be over. You still have time, though, as they’re in effect until January 31/19.

The International Association of Administrative Professionals’ (IAAP’s) Summit is a major conference, and an annual must attend event on many assistants’ calendars. IAAP will host this year’s Summit at National Harbor, Maryland.

The Summit 2019 website is up and running, complete with a detailed four-day schedule and downloadable resources to help make the business case to your principal.

I’ll Present on Cybersecurity and IR4.0

IR4.0 – Are You Ready? Do You Know What It Is?

  • Friday, July 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 20 from 10:15 – 11:45 a.m.
  • We’ve all heard a lot about digital disruption, but are you familiar with IR4.0, aka the Fourth Industrial Revolution? In this session, we’ll look at IR4.0 and its implications for your career, including an overview of Blockchain technology. From there, we’ll explore how you can continue to adapt and even transform some of your thinking in order to firm up boundaries between your personal and business lives while continuing to add value to your employer.

Cybersecurity for Admin Professionals: How You Can Reduce Your Digital Vulnerabilities

  • Friday, July 19 from 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. and Saturday, July 20 from 8:30 – 10:00 a.m.
  • I gave Summit’s first cybersecurity presentation back in 2017, and this is a topic that’s increasingly relevant to your employer with each year that passes. Executive Assistants are specifically targeted by cyber criminals and, when it comes to cybersecurity breaches, there are three types of organizations: those that have been hacked, those that have been hacked but don’t yet know it, and those that have yet to be hacked. You’ll walk away from this session with an understanding of how cyber attacks can occur and how they can impact both your business and personal lives. I’ll be bringing you the latest updates to help you keep both your home and business tech environments as risk-free as possible.
The Location

I’ve presented at this National Harbor locale before, and Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center is literally a water taxi ride or drive across the Potomac from wonderful Old Town, Alexandria. It’s also a short commute to all the great sights of Washington, DC.

After attending outstanding conference presentations, take a bit of time to network with friends old and new. Here, looking out over the Potomac to National Harbor from Old Town, Alexandria – a short water taxi ride away!

Also on the Program

IAAP selects its speakers with care, and the Summit 2019 schedule is impressive. I’ve already had the privilege of presenting alongside fellow speakers Ayanna Castro, Melissa Equibel, Kemetia Foley (a local!), Rhonda Scharf, Chrissy Scivicque and Rosemarie Terenzio at different events, and you can also look forward to keynote addresses from Laura Schwartz and Anne Grady. Click here for the full conference schedule, or …

Will we see you in National Harbor? You needn’t be an IAAP member to attend, although you can join and secure a preferred registration rate.

In addition to North American IAAP members, I’ve already heard from IMA (International Management Association) members in Belgium and Holland who will join us for Summit 2019. A couple of them have already booked their flights!
