Weekend Poll: Are You A Workaholic?

If the message in this neon sign reflects your motto, this Weekend Poll may represent a good opportunity for reflection. Do you find yourself working ridiculously long hours, or routinely checking email and acting on business matters even from home?

Do you believe in life-work balance?

Yes, I know I’ve flipped the order in which life and work usually appear when people discsuss efforts to achieve balance between personal and business lives. That’s highly intentional! I know it’s been half-term for some of my readers, and wonder how readily assistants stay away from email while on holidays.

Do you switch off?

… whether on vacation, or when you leave the office at the end of the day? If so, how do you manage to switch off from office life?  I believe it comes down to establishing and maintaining boundaries, respecting oneself, commanding others’ respect and more. I know that, in many cases, it’s assistants ourselves who set unrealistic expectations and put in hours of which your principals (bosses) are completely unaware!

All this leads to my latest Weekend Poll. For a third consecutive year, I’m asking:

Are you a workaholic?

Please take a couple of minutes to complete the poll below. As always, I look forward to hearing what you have to say and will publish results next week.
