I’ll be travelling through Washington, DC for IAAP’s Summit 2019
Will I see you in DC and National Harbor? As mentioned yesterday, this week I’m bringing you a look at my upcoming presentations in Atlanta, Edinburgh, Leicester, London, Manchester, National Harbor, New Orleans, Québec City and Southampton. I’d be delighted to see you at one or more of my 10 upcoming conferences and events scheduled to date.
IAAP Summit 2019
Administrative Professionals Day™ and Week™ are approaching. Have you made the business case yet to attend a conference some time this year?
The Summit 2019 website provides a detailed four-day schedule and downloadable resources to help make the business case to your principal. Click here for registration rates and to register.
There is a new scholarship opportunity for IAAP members, with applications open from April 8 – 19, 2019, thanks to IAAP Board Chair Nora Y. Onishi and her husband Roy M. Onishi. The couple have endowed the the International Association of Administrative Professionals Foundation with $25,000 to provide scholarships for attendance at IAAP Summit conferences, beginning this year.
I had this article partially prepared when I read today’s IAAP Foundation’s media release, detailing the exciting news of this landmark endowment. It’s the first endowment bestowed upon the IAAP Foundation, and creates tremendous long term learning opportunities.
Many IAAP members will know that Nora Onishi, CAP, MEP, OM, PM is a senior executive assistant at Hawaiian Airlines, Inc. and has been an IAAP member for more than a quarter of a century. Readers around the globe may recall that I interviewed Nora for my Real Careers series; click here if you’d like to read that interview once again.
The Mālama ‘ohana Endowment Fund
established by Nora Y. and Roy M. Onishi
is designed to “to take care of family”
Mālama ‘ohana means “to take care of family”. Nora observed that this adage reminds one to care, to serve, to honour and respect family –and, in this case, she and Roy are helping to honour and take care of the IAAP family. As noted in the IAAP Foundation’s media release, “The purpose of this endowment is twofold – to provide educational opportunities to a member of our ‘ohana (IAAP family) by awarding a scholarship to the IAAP Summit and to pay it forward for future generations of our profession. Preference is given to IAAP family members in Hawaii to alleviate the high cost of air travel.”
Click here for the IAAP Summit 2019 scholarship application, and submit it on or before April 19/19
You have until April 19th to submit your Mālama ‘ohana scholarship application. The first recipient of this scholarship will be selected through an application process, open now through April -19, 2019. Click here to access the scholarship application.
I’m sure many IAAP members are thinking of saying mahalo (thank you) to the Onishis. I touched base this evening with Nora, who touched on her desire to “pay it forward”. Kudos to the Onishis, the IAAP Foundation and all future recipients of the Mālama ‘ohana Scholarship!
