If we know one another well, you may be aware I’m not one to readily join in with social media or other posts celebrating prescribed dates marking the “international day of” this or that. This holds true whether this represents International Bicycle Day (June 3rd) or whether that represents something such as the International Day of Older Persons (October 1st). Don’t get me wrong; I appreciate and enjoy riding my bike. I generally appreciate and respect older people, and count some of them among those I cherish and love.
Today, however, I am joining in on acknowledging what’s known as International Friendship Day or, depending on your source, the International Day of Friendship.
Until this morning, I was unaware such a day existed. That’s until I was tagged in social media posts by others marking this date and celebrating their friendships.
Very much a family person, I also care about and value true friendship.
With the work I do, I have the good fortune of meeting and enjoying people all over this planet of ours. Some of these connections began digitally, in response to my articles and interviews. Since I began publishing Exceptional EA 11 years ago this week, I’ve subsequently met and enjoyed spending time in person with many readers and clients at conferences and events in Australia, Barbados, Canada, Cyprus, Denmark, England, Italy, Scotland, South Africa, Sweden, The Netherlands and the USA. Friendships are forged, and deepen over time.
Many readers and clients have become friends over the course of the past 11 years. In recent months, I’ve had occasion to be more grateful than ever for good friends – whether we’ve known each other decades or only recently. Here’s to each and every one of you, and to the friendships you enjoy!
