I really like Helps’ words, which have stood the test of time. He wrote this more than a century ago. About these photos: In mid-June, I drove from Aix-en-Provence to Verdon Gorge. Elements of the drive were harrowing, as I was in the mountainous Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region – and I say this having navigated roadways in BC’s interior and in the Scottish Highlands! Still, it was worth it, This is one more beautiful part of our planet.
