Network, internally and externally.
Step up to the plate as a contributor; volunteer and seek out or create opportunities to stretch yourself professionally and personally.
Contribute to the greater good rather than viewing networks as existing primarily to benefit you, and all parties will benefit.
Communicate to your principal (boss) the advantages of your participation in networks and professional associations.
Mentorships: Seek out a mentor and, depending on your goals and budget, perhaps a career coach. When you’re ready, mentor other people.
My bottom line approach to networking: Give more than you hope to receive.
