Weekend Poll: Do You Sit or Stand at Your Desk?

This is a question we wouldn’t even have considered asking a few years ago. However, times are fortunately changing. Is your workplace changing with them?

The American Journal of Preventive Medicine is among those bodies that have reported on associations between early mortality rates and women with primarily sedentary behaviour. What to do about it? Well, we can make a concerted effort to be physically active in our home life and at the office.

What are some strategies for breaking the sedentary cycle in the workplace? Well, you can set alerts on your computer or phone to  nudge you to get up and stretch your legs – however briefly – every 30 or 60 minutes. Novel as it may seem to some of us, there’s also the option of actually taking coffee and lunch breaks. Use that time to take a walk or work out.

Stand Desks

Stand desks are increasingly making appearances in offices, which is great news for women and men whose work days are otherwise fairly sedentary.

That leads us to the focus of this weekend’s poll:

Do you have the option of using a stand desk in your office?

Please take a couple of minutes to complete the poll below, and I’ll publish results next Tuesday. “Select” whichever responses apply, and remember to CLICK on the “VOTE” ICON AFTER EACH QUESTION.
